Governance: AppFlicks Community & Content Guidelines

AppFlicks is a platform for streaming entertainment fans of Games, Music and Video: Films, Series, Live TV, News & Sports to participate within communities to offer opinions, compete in polls, submit reviews and share their own videos – all for the purpose, of discussing, connecting and contributing in an open and enriching fan environment. AppFlicks is not a publisher. The nature of curated, community content might range from light-hearted to serious, however, while criticism of media is welcome, it should never be combative, demeaning nor offensive. Respect is essential when participating across any of AppFlicks’ community engagement pages.

Not Safe For Work Content

Please use common sense when contributing to AppFlicks. Any content that contains hate speech, nudity, pornography, or profanity, which a reasonable viewer may not want to be seen accessing in a formal or public setting should be self-filtered, before posting to the site.

Prohibited Content

While AppFlicks will provide flexibility in terms of what content is acceptable, below are guidelines for content that certainly is not. Please keep in mind the “spirit” in which these community & content policies were written, instead of the actual “letter” of this policy. Those who test its limits, will first find their content, then account, removed from AppFlicks.

Content is prohibited if it / is:

  • Illegal in any way
  • Pornography of any kind
  • Sexual or suggestive media involving minors
  • Encourages or incites violence
  • Discriminates, threatens, harasses, bullies or encourages others to do so
  • Violates international copyright laws
  • Personal, confidential or sensitive information of any kind
  • Impersonates in a misleading or deceptive manner
  • SPAM of any kind
  • Solicitation for exchange of goods, services or fees of any kind

Prohibited Behavior

In addition to not submitting prohibited content, the following behaviors are prohibited on AppFlicks:

  • Anything that interferes with normal use of AppFlicks
  • Promoting non-AppFlicks channels, sites, communities, brands, products or services
  • Making use of AppFlicks to solicit or facilitate any transaction, fundraising or gift involving goods, services and fees
  • Creating multiple accounts to manipulate JoulePeppers Ranks, JouleStream Forums, JouleView Reviews, JoulePoll Meters, JouleSwipe Icy Or Spicy & JouleGage / JouleGauge ScorcherScale Leader-board results
  • Using AppFlicks, JoulePeppers, AuteurX or QuokkaChat for any purpose, other than what they were solely intended for
  • Engaging in any form of political activity such as fundraising, campaigning or voter manipulation
  • Creating multiple accounts to commit fraud, propagate false news, evade punishment or avoid account restrictions

Enforcement

There are a variety of ways to enforce our policies, none pleasant, including, but not limited to:

  • Politely asking offender to refrain
  • Removal of inappropriate or prohibited content
  • Public notice of offender / offence to community
  • Temporary or permanent suspension of contribution privileges
  • Temporary or permanent suspension of accounts

Moderation within Communities

Individual communities on AppFlicks may have their own guidelines, in addition to our own, with their own moderators to enforce them. These rules may be more restrictive than what is set forth above, not less. AppFlicks provides community management tools to aid moderators, but does not mandate their usage.

Final Word

As AppFlicks is independently owned, our Admin will be the sole arbiter, with the ultimate discretion and final authority as it relates to content. AppFlicks leadership are strong proponents of free speech. We subscribe to the principal of tolerance for all viewpoints, even those we may disagree with. AppFlicks believes that censorship, of any kind, runs contrary to the fair and open exchange of ideas. That said, AppFlicks reserves the right to remove any content that may violate our above stated community standards. Use of AppFlicks, acknowledges sole consent to the platform in any and all matters as it relates to the distribution, refusal to post or removal of member-generated content that violates legal and / or community standards.
