I look forward to your JoulePepper rating of Designated Survivor Seasons 1-3 and I would love to read your comments in the JouleView section, below. When watching, rating and recommending Designated Survivor, my take is a bit biased, based on my own background as a former campaign operative and political advisor across Municipal, State and US Federal government.
While this series is an act of fiction, it purports to be within the real world, thus opening it up to more critical comparison. Former Housing Secretary cum President Thomas Kirkman is portrayed as being non-partisan, yet the series and his character are both used to sell quite progressive agenda, to the point of being distracting to viewers who many have alternative positions on similar issues. I enjoy Kiefer Sutherland and Maggie Q in their prior film / television performances, along with the overall pacing of this action-driven series. These along with many other likeable cast / characters and sub-plots…makes it easier to ignore the distractions I previously mentioned. Though enjoyable to watch, as a former political insider, I must point out that much of the political intrigue that drives the series is fantastical and highly unlikely to occur in reality. Based on the above, I give this series 4, JoulePeppers – it’s Hot!
