Heartwarming anime that deals with anxiety…
100% Spicy
Slice of life anime about making friends, Shoko Komo or Komi-san has a communication disorder or is unable to speak due to her crippling anxiety. She thinks people around her don’t like her when in fact, the whole class worships her. Even with her case, she still wants to make 100 friends. Her seatmate, Hitohito Tadano, is good at reading the atmosphere. He always understands Komi and tries to speak for her. Tadano promises to help Komi with her anxiety and have her make 100 friends.
The anime also shows Komi’s relationship with her family. It seems her family, aside from her mother, is an introvert. Komi and her dad communicate through silence, her brother speaks when necessary, while her mom can be very talkative and extroverted. These interactions can probably explain Komi’s upbringing.

The story in Komi Can’t Communicate may be an exaggerated version of people with anxiety but it can be relatable. It shows wanting to be involved and difficulty in communicating. The anime is heartwarming as Komi progresses to make friends even with her anxiety.
