Full Review: Coming Soon!

Have you watched the Amazon Prime Video Original Film Without Remorse (2021) yet? What did you think about the film, its direction, cast, the story, cinematography, soundtrack and overall themes?

Author Tom Clancy’s work is back on Prime, but actor Michael B. Jordan, whom I’ve liked in just about everything I’ve watched him in, from Creed to Black Panther…is a bit flat, in this somewhat predictable Jack Ryan spin-off. This really feels like a movie that I’ve seen before. Or it’s parts of several different films, assembled in this made for streaming, film. Whereas, the recent Prime Original Moive, Tomorrow War, felt cinematic, this movie felt like a continuation of the Amazon Prime Original Series, Jack Ryan. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however, the film’s editing, pacing and acting could have been better.

Actress Jodie Turner-Smith stole the screen from Jordan on more than one occasion. For example, there are a few scenes that really could have benefited from re-shoots, because when it came time to edit this film, it’s obvious that cuts were used, that weren’t ideal, as the tone of the dialogue or interactions between characters, were way out of place. This should not have happened.

Overall, the action was generally good, there was enough drama and suspense in “who-done-it” department, leaving on to wonder who was the real, big bad, behind it all and several sequences that I’ve not seen in film / television before, which made for decent, edge-of-your-seat moments as well.

I look forward to your JoulePepper rating of Without Remorse and I would love to read your comments in the JouleView section, below. The rumored sequel to this film is Clancy’s Rainbow Six, immortalized by the popular video game. While this was not Jordan’s best outing, I’d welcome to see him return as Senior Chief John Kelly / Covert Operative John Clark, in Rainbow Six. Based on the above, I give this film 3 JoulePeppers – it’s Warm!
