Just about a month ago, I shared my initial feelings about WandaVision Episodes 1-2. While I enjoyed what I watched, I was disappointed that it did not kick-off as I had wanted. While each of those episodes gave a glimpse of what was to come, it was not until Episode 3 that the genius that Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige had cooked-up, within this time-bending, sitcom adventure began to unfold.

Across the nine episodes, Marvel fans were treated to further insights into the backstory of both Wanda Maximoff and The Vision. This is a spoiler-free review, so I will not delve into the actual plot details, but we are treated to the greater comic book lore of these characters, as well as a known villain and the surprise casting of an unexpected hero.

Disney+ viewers are treated to seeing our Avenger heroes, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and The Vision (Paul Bettany) for the first time since Endgame (2019) / Infinity War (2018) in this adventure, set across a time-jumping, 50-00’s sitcom.

While the first two episodes are in black and white, once we get to the 1960’s they are in full-color and this is where the series hits its stride. All episodes were well written, performed and directed with so many easter eggs, callbacks to classic characters, films, TV and comic books. Every episode ends with not so subtle hints, that something much bigger is coming.

Over half of the series, I kept waiting for the big reveal as to, Spoiler Warning if haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War (2018), how Vision is still alive and exactly just where is, or more-like why is Westview, NJ, Wanda Maximoff, Vision and the other characters in the situation they find themselves in? Is Wanda somehow trapped inside her own mind or within an alternate universe / multiverse, or… is she trapped in the hex of a darker force?

Suppose, the best way to describe my overall reaction to the very first, original Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series to land on the Disney+ streaming service, having now watched all nine episodes, is one of overall enjoyment. I would, however, recommend one binge the series, as the episode run times are short and the cat-n-mouse story arc, beats would be more enjoyable, when viewed, back-to-back.

As a fan of the Disney MCU, ever since Iron Man landed on the big screen back in 2008. Each film has been a tasty main course and Disney+ WandaVision is zesty appetizer that wets your appetite, but does not fill it. I found the series a must watch, with the finale, not delivering the knock-out-punch that I was hoping for.

TIP: Don’t miss the finale’s end credit scene.

If you are wanting more…next week, a behind-the-scenes featurette, Assembled: The Making of WandaVision will drop and on the 19th of March, I am eagerly awaiting the next series, Falcon and The Winter Solider.
