Two episodes of Marvel Studios WandaVision dropped on Disney+ today and my feelings are a bit mixed. While I enjoyed seeing our Avenger heroes, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and The Vision (Paul Bettany) for the first time since Endgame (2019) / Infinity War (2018) the throwback 50-60’s sitcom setting was welcome in the first episode of the 9 episode season, but not in the second.

Don’t get me wrong, both black and white episodes were well written, performed and directed with many easter eggs, callbacks to some classic TV series and hints that something bigger is afoot. However, I kept waiting for the big reveal as to, Spoiler Warning if haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War (2018), how Vision is still alive or where is Wanda Maximoff? Is she somehow trapped inside her mind or within an alternate universe / multiverse, etc?

Suppose, the best way to describe my reaction to the very first, original Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series to land on the Disney+ streaming service, having seen just two episodes, is as follows… Imagine you have a very well prepared appetizer in front of you, but your mouth is watering for the main course that you’ve come to expect from a menu of MCU films that have been released since Iron Man landed on the big screen in 2008.

That is how I feel about WandaVision. While I enjoyed what I watched, I was disappointed for what I wanted. Make sense? That said, I am excited for episode 3, dropping this Friday.

Perhaps issuing such an early review / ranking of the series is premature? However, as of the end of Episodes 1-2, I rate this series, 3 JoulePeppers – it’s Warm!
