Restless Spirits (2019), Frontiers Music

Lords of Black guitarist & songwriter Tony Hernando leads all-star line-up of Journey, Hardline, Animal Drive, Perfect Plan and Revolution Saints artists…

100% Spicy

Restless Spirits happened to be one of those surprise finds, while searching iTunes for one-off tracks, older projects or new releases from artists that I most admire. It’s likely that is how many a melodic rock fan, stumbled across this diverse array of talent, led by guitarist Tony Hernando’s (Lords of Black) all-star album.

I love releases like this, especially when coming from Milan, Italy’s Frontiers Music. Founder and CEO, Serafino Perugino, has not only been responsible for providing a platform for the best rock n’ roll artists from the 80’s, he’s also introduced fans of the genre, to newer talent, like the bands Action and China Blue that I managed and executive produced for his label, along with sponsoring monster, super groups, such as Restless Spirits.

In addition to the diverse vocal talents, the album features even more superstars on guitar, base, drums, piano and keyboards.

How best to define this all-star project? Amazing! This is not surprising, as Frontiers’ rock star producer, writer, keyboardist and singer contributes to the strong middle-finish. I can’t say enough about his all-around talent along with that of both and Deen Castronovo. I had the pleasure of working on a single Hardline record for Frontiers with Gioeli & Del Vecchio and promoting three Journey records and several tours that Castronovo were on.

Restless Spirits is truly an ensemble of spirited writing, solid production and outstanding vocals. Sometimes, projects like these can sound uneven, as the voices or writing do not have a harmonious or thematic blend. That is not the case with Restless Spirits, as the tracks are well sequenced with the album growing stronger with each track.
