Review: Coming Soon!

Have you watched The Flash (2023) yet? What did you think about the film, its direction, cast, the “Flashpoint” multiverse storyline, cinematography, soundtrack and overall themes?

What is your JoulePepper rating of The Flash? Would you give this long delayed and eagerly awaited, DC Superhero film: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 JoulePeppers – in your opinion, is it Icy, Cold, Warm, Hot, Spicy?

Was The Flash a perfect movie? No! Was it darn close? Absolutely, yes! What did I like about it? Almost everything! The pacing, the story, the script, the cast and their overall performance. Director Andy Muschietti nailed it and I hope that he’ll return for more DC properties, as has been rumored.

Setting aside, the off-screen antics of Ezra Miller (Barry Allen / The Flash), his acting was superb. Added to this, the special effects are not getting the credit they deserve. I was never taken out of this film when watching the older Barry Allen talking / interacting with his younger self. Quite the contrary, I forgot that it was a single actor, masterfully performing both roles with superb VFX seamlessly splicing these two characters amidst complex action sequences.

In addition to the above, I enjoyed the overall story, within the Jack Snyder’s “Snyderverse” narrative, while opening the door to the upcoming James Gunn’s “Gunnverse” under DC’s new owners Warner Brothers Discovery.

The return of Ben Affleck, George Clooney, and especially Michael Keaton as Batman / Bruce Wayne was both welcomed and returned with multiple payoffs for fans, with limited fan service.

One can never have enough of Michael Shannon’s General Zod, who was fantastic in this film and I am hopeful, that Gunn will make use of him, in his future Superman installments. Same can be said for newcomer Sasha Calle, whose performance, as Supergirl, should be rewarded with a return casting.
