Review: This extraordinary film, written and directed by Mel Gibson was an instant classic from the moment it was released. It has had almost as much impact and longevity as the subject it depicts. Actor Jim Caviezel, fully embodies the heavy weight of the character and his mission to fulfill the ultimate historical sacrifice. While the 1977 television miniseries, Jesus of Nazareth is a more inviting and compelling overall narrative of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ’s story, The Passion‘s focus, on his singular mission, is more compelling.

I am looking forward to your JoulePepper rating of  The Passion of The Christ and I’d love to read your comments in the JouleView section, below, not just about the film, but its context to the body of prior works. This cinematic experience, in my opinion, is far and above, the highest quality depiction, to date, of Christ, on film. My only criticism of this stunning motion picture, however, is that it only covers “The Passion” – not the birth and life events prior to Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion and then and then his meaningful resurrection (the film shows it, but that’s all it does) and Jesus subsequent meeting with his disciples, mother and Mary Magdalen.

My feedback aside, it’s not about what I wanted to see, but what the director intend, their vision. This was to be a masterclass on Jesus final 12 hours. There had been talk of director Gibson filming the next 12-24 hours. That, I would like to see. Recently, watched actor Caviezel, portray Luke in a Bible-inspired film, titled, Paul, Apostle of Christ (2018). Would be a welcome reunion for each to collaborate to continue the greatest story ever told.

As for The Passion of the Christ, its style, the tone, use of spoken Hebrew and Latin, with English only provided via subtitles for authenticity and the methods used to tell the narrative, by use of flashbacks, set against the most graphic depictions of the horrific torment, that Christ took upon himself for those who would believe in him, is both captivating and emotionally stunning. How can one not give this, once in a lifetime film 5 JoulePeppers – it’s super Spicy!

I watched this with my family back home. It is indeed one of the best Christ films. It highlights Christ sacrifice on the cross. It was really painful to see how He died for His people. Great actors, cinematic and great review!👍😃
