The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022), on Amazon Prime Video

It might not be Tolkien’s official Fellowship, yet I am enjoying the Series for what it is, not what it is not…

80% Hot

Synopsis: “This series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings,” and takes viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared reemergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”

Full Review: Coming Soon!

Have you watched The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022) before? What did you think about the streaming series, its direction, cast, the story, cinematography, soundtrack and overall themes?

While there’s been a heck of a lot of noise about how this original series doesn’t live up to the official J.R.R. Tolkien cannon, I quite enjoyed the debut season of this new series. Sure, it wasn’t perfect, there are some character inconsistencies, perhaps, it’s the casting and the story itself, but I am willing to overlook these, for now, to allow the planned 5 Seasons, the time it needs, to get us to The Hobbit / The Lord of The Rings Trilogies.

I enjoyed the prequel world building here, the lore and the breathtaking and familiar New Zealand real-world sets and landscapes that are the backdrop, for the fictitious Middle Earth.
